This is the recently re-opened area of The british Museum. I have an amazing Panorama of this place that I can’t post yet but I will find a way.

  1. I love all three of these. the rich clarity of the architecture and marble against the movement of gallery visitors is stunning. It gives a real sense of capturing not just a moment but a time.

The effect of the photographic technique marbling and distorting the ‘skin’/ surface in ‘feathered friend’ gives a sense of time and also stillness. It looks like the kind of weather damage you see in outdoor, garden, statues and so the juxtaposition against the books gives a slightly disconcerting sense. Also I just love the background of ancient books in such a rich hue.

The same can be said of “Hands of my fruit”, but the lighting hitting the babe’s head in such a way on that one really highlights the theme of bountifulness in the sculpture itself.
