Outlines & Pilar Scripts

Back to the lens test now and two more quick shots I grabbed inside the British Museum. One of the things I love about HDR as a process is the random effect of consequence of taking multiple exposures when things or people move through the frame during capture of those images. This is sometimes to the detriment of the image but in the case of people or traffic moving, the result can be fun, be it ghostly outlines or almost motion blur like movement streaks from blending of the exposures when subjects change position from shot to shot. I can accentuate this by painting said objects back in or out and sometimes I do but sometimes, the default effect of the exposure blending is nice enough as is. First shot here falls somewhere in the middle whereas if you go back through the archives here to my early Telecom Tower shots which involved 9 exposures (I take 5 these days), you’ll find some awesome ones where I’ve blended the missing pieces from the 9 shots to accentuate the movement streaks like a comic book to denote the movement of traffic or people through the frame.

Looming, Columns & Stoic

Literally just returned from a brief walk to return an item I bought from Amazon and took my camera with new lens attached to take some quick test shots with it at the British Museum on route home. To say I’m happy with it would be an understatement. These are very quickly processed and uploaded but I love them!

British Museum Panorama

I rarely post panoramas on here or anywhere else due to there not being a way to do it that can really show off the content and size of the image in a way that’s user friendly for the viewer. I have a nice little collection of some really nice ones I’ve taken over the years and no way to share them but this one isn’t quite so wide and was shot more specifically to capture what I couldn’t in one shot due to limitations of lenses in my collection so it works for posting. The other two images are the last from this visit to the British Museum, a stairwell statue (I should capture the view from the top of the stairwell looking down at some point) and a nice vase from the asian pottery collection they have. I’ve photographed some of this collection before but only took the single this time to see how the new camera handled shooting through glass, something I don’t love being forced to do but don’t have a choice in when it comes to subject matter here.
